Justice

Our partnerships with law enforcement agencies allow us to respond to mental health crisis in the field and aid in restorative justice practices.

Juvenile Diversion

In partnership with the Windsor and Healdsburg Police Departments, SOS offers two Juvenile Diversion Programs, which provides restorative justice counseling and community service to first time, non-violent youth offenders. The juvenile diversion program was created to provide an alternative to court for juvenile offenders who have committed misdemeanor crimes. When a citing Officer chooses to refer an offending youth to our programs, the youth may choose to attend 10 weeks of counseling, volunteer 10 hours of community service, and participate in a form of restitution related to the offense committed. In Windsor, the rate of youth recidivism is is minimal and has decreased for youth completing this program.

Juvenile Justice Centers

SOS also provides Educationally Related Mental Health Services to youth while they are in the Juvenile Justice Center and Camp detention facilities. We work to ensure that youth who receive mental health counseling through their IEP’s do not have an interruption to services. Youth you exit the detention centers and return to school, are sometimes able to continue to receive mental health services with their counselor through one of our school based programs.

Mobile Support Team

SOS employs and trains Associate Therapists who work on the Sonoma County Mobile Support Team (MST). Established in 2010 the Mobile Support Team is a program developed by Sonoma County to address the growing need for mobile crisis intervention within our community. SOS MST Interns, are trained in crisis assessment and intervention and can place 5150 holds. They are called on Police calls when the issue is mental health related and work to deescalate, intervene and asses individuals having mental health crisis. The Mobile Support Team follows up with individuals and their families when the crisis is over.
