Training

SOS offers new therapists in the field an opportunity to work with a diversity of clients in a variety of settings, while supporting continued education and growth through regular Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) approved supervision and trainings. Our Trainees and Associates provide therapy to Sonoma County residents through all three of our service areas. SOS partners with the Masters of Counseling programs including Sonoma State University, the University of San Francisco, The Wright Institute, JFK University, and CIIS to train second year graduate-students and post-Masters Marriage and Family Therapist Associates.  All Associates and Trainees are supervised by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and receive additional training and support through SOS as they gain hours towards their own licensure.

Trainees and Associates receive:

  • Support from peer pre-licensed & licensed staff
  • Supervision from 3 Clinical Supervisors
  • A variety of experience with different populations
  • Monthly in-house trainings
  • Additional external training opportunities
  • Intake assessment experience
  • Private practice style setting and preparation for a successful private practice upon licensure
  • Collaborative supportive environment
  • Partnership with community agencies
  • Competitive pay
